Epic Emeralds won the House Points Cup last term and enjoyed their own non-uniform day on Friday 12th January. The children are awarded points for a variety of things, including good behaviour, great work, polite manners and a positive attitude to work.

Young Voices

On Monday 15th January our Year 5 and Year 6 children travelled to Sheffield Arena to take part in the Young Voices Concert, in a choir comprising of over 5000 children. As always they had an absolutely amazing time and were a real credit to our school and their families.


Sporting Influence

Sporting influence continue to support our PE in school, they are working with our Junior children on a Monday and our Infant children on a Friday. They run a Friday lunch club for our Junior sports leaders and for the children who compete at the Tchoukball competition at Harrogate High on a Wednesday after school. They are also currently running an after school Tchoukball club for our Year 3 and 4 children.

A few year 5 and 6 are also going to Harrogate high after school on a Wednesday and taking part in a Tchoukball comp with other schools.

 Rowan Class had their own non-uniform day on Friday 19th January as a result of them winning the Term Class Attendance Cup for the whole of last term, with a percentage of 97.80, achieving well above our target of 97.00%

Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed a magical performance of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, a wonderful launch into our literacy and reading for this term.

The children in Willow had a surprise visit from “The Snow Beast” and had to gather evidence and write down what they saw.

The children wrote some fantastic reports about the incident and came up with some amazing vocabulary. He made a bit of a mess, let’s hope he does not return too quickly!

Wake up and Shake up

Due to some inclement weather, we replaced a couple of the Wednesday Walks with wake up and shake up sessions, ably led by Mr Gray.

Infant Story Night

A big thank you to the Friends of Hookstone for organizing a wonderful Infant Story Night, the children and staff joined in by wearing their pyjamas and onesies and the children listened to ‘Shark in the Dark’, ‘Sharing a Shell’ and ‘The Snow Beast’ amongst others.

 Young Carers

We wore non- uniform on Friday 26th January in support of the Young Carers National Awareness Day, thanks to your support we raised a fantastic £246.00

Askham Bryan college students are coming in every week on a Tuesday to do sports activities with our Year 1 and 2 pupils.

Oak Class Assembly

Oak Class shared their learning with a train themed assembly, looking at a train journey, giving a beautiful rendition of “Morning Town” and showed some wonderful Lowery inspired pictures.
